Jean Makoun is set to miss Aston Villa's meeting with Wigan Athletic this weekend.
The former Lyon midfielder was injured in the 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion last week and has not come up in time to face the Latics at Villa Park according to caretaker manager Gary McAllister.
"Jean has a dead leg and has been feeling it for a while now so we pulled him out of training," he said.
"He has upped his training this week but he's only been with the physios and not joined in with the full group.
"We're just going to hold him back again so he won't be available."
