Former Wrexham boss Dean Saunders is taking charge of Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll and his assistant Richard O'Kelly have been put on gardening leave by the Championship strugglers.

Ex-Liverpool and Aston Villa star Saunders will take charge for the home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

A club statement read: "It is with regret that the shareholders have taken the decision based on the long run of poor results, that Sean O'Driscoll and Richard O'Kelly be put on gardening leave.

"They felt that action needed to be taken to address the current position.

"They would like to thank Sean and Richard for all their work during the five years at the club including winning at the Millennium Stadium and Wembley."
