Former Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes is being linked with Rafa Benitez's backroom team at Real Madrid.AS says Morientes could be named as Benítez's assistant at Real Madrid, according to information in Italy.

The 39-year-old, who was in charge of Madrid's Under-18 side at La Fábrica until last summer, knows Benítez from their time together at Liverpool.

The manager signed Morientes in the 2005 winter transfer window after he had returned to the capital following his loan spell at Monaco.
