Former Liverpool and England star Robbie Fowler looks set to arrive in Australia next week for talks with North Queensland Fury. Currently out of contract after being released by Blackburn Rovers, the 33-year old is expected to hold talks with Fury chairman Don Matheson and other Fury officials and Matheson is very optimistic.

"We wouldn't have invited him here if we didn't think we were in the ball park," Matheson said.

"More importantly, we wouldn't have invited him if we didn't think he had something to contribute to the game and the club.

"On all fronts we're confident we're doing all the right things and there's a good opportunity we can secure him."
