Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp was surprised Darren Fletcher was benched by Manchester United for their defeat at Anfield.
He wrote in his column for the Daily Mail, "Without Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, I don't know why United played with such little protection for their two exposed central defenders.
"Their attack-minded line-up, with Darren Fletcher absent from midfield, invited Liverpool on to them.
"Liverpool's athletic midfield ran all over Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes, which is where the game was won."
