Ex-Liverpool star Harry Kewell believes Mohamed Salah can break Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's strangehold of the Ballon D'Or.
Kaka was the last player other than Messi and Ronaldo to win the world's best player award and that was in 2007.
Salah has scored 36 goals across all competitions this season, including 28 in the Premier League, and Kewell insists the Egyptian has the potential to be crowned the world's best.
"Salah has had a phenomenal season," said Kewell.
"People are saying about Player of the Year, but I'd even go that next step.
"If he was to have a fantastic World Cup, gets a couple of goals and plays well, and then continues again next season, why not go for the Ballon d'Or?
"He's got the goals, I don't see why he couldn't win it."
