New Stockport boss Didi Hamann is confident former Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool winger Dale Jennings, 18, can make it at Bayern Munich.
Bayern's sporting director Christian Nerlinger even contacted Hamann for his opinion on Jennings before the German giants made their surprise move.
The former Germany midfielder - who won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005 - gave Jennings a glowing reference.
And Hamann said yesterday: "He's a very talented player and they saw that and have taken a punt on him.
"I wish him all the best and hope it works out. I think it's a great move for him and it can only improve him as a player and a person.
"It's a new country and new language and will be a whole new experience for him."
