Ex-Liverpool star Grobbelaar: Gerrard's heart is at Liverpool but his head is in LA

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar has stated that Steven Gerrard's head is already in Los Angeles. Gerrard will be ending a lifelong association with his beloved Liverpool at the end of the season and he has already agreed to join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.

While many expected Gerrard to bow out from Anfield with a bang, the midfielder has struggled with injuries and his recent 'moment of madness' against Manchester United - where he arguably cost his side the match by receiving a red card for a malicious stamp on Ander Herrera - has put the 34-year old under intense scrutiny.

Now former player Grobbelaar has suggested that Gerrard's uncharacteristic actions are due to the fact that his heart will always be with Liverpool but his head is already in Los Angeles.

"Steven Gerrard wanted to stamp his authority on to the match," Grobbelaar told talkSPORT.

"I know that Gerrard's heart is in Liverpool, and always will be, but his head unfortunately is in Los Angeles.

"He said himself that he takes full responsibility for what his actions were. A lot of other referees would have just given a yellow and warned him to stamp it out because there were some other hefty challenges and some tackles that could've gone either way."
