Collymore wrote in his column for the People: "Cole is really going to benefit from a technically brilliant side like Lille, and the fact he's only a two-hour train ride from London makes it even easier.
"This is a chance for him to ram a few slurs back down people's throats.
"I'd love to see Joe back in an England shirt. If that happened, maybe it would give more of our players the urge to go and broaden their horizons.
"I think when players get to the age of 26 here and aren't getting a game, they should push to join the likes of Sevilla or Marseille.
"The problem is now there's such good money in England, very few want to leave it behind.
"It's great to see Cole finding his confidence again in France and if he can keep it up, he'll become another option for Fabio Capello ahead of the Euro finals."
