As expected, Bellamy has been a guiding influence and admitted that he has concerns about the future of the versatile left-footed midfielder in the cynical world of professional football.
"Course I worry, as a father," he told the Daily Mail. "My inside knowledge of how ruthless football can be means that you have to have a certain mentality to stay with it. But, listen, some of the highlights outweigh any of these disappointments.
"When Ellis got offered his scholarship at Cardiff, I took him out to the centre of the pitch and said to him: 'Are you sure you want to do this? Because what you have done so far is the easy bit. Now it's gonna get really hard.
"'You have to be prepared for the disappointments and the highs. If you really want to do this then you are gonna have to give it your all and work harder then you ever have'.
"He just looked me in the eye and said: 'I wanna do it'. He is an incredible kid and I am so proud of him."
