Ex-Liverpool skipper Redknapp lavishes praise on Everton's 'freak' Cahill

Former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on Everton star Tim Cahill for his freakish aerial ability. Cahill is one of the most deadly men around corners, set-pieces and crosses in the Premier League and Redknapp, now a columnist for the Daily Mail, was in awe of the Australian international's talents, rating him alongside some of the greats of the game.

"Tim Cahill is a freak. How can a 5ft 10in player jump so high and cause so many problems in the air?" he wrote.

"Bryan Robson was the best I saw as a kid at timing his arrival and perfecting his leap. David Platt was good at it too.

"Cahill must be a nightmare for defenders and holding midfielders. You know the Everton man is coming, but how do you stop him?"

Cahill scored his 50th Premier League goal for Everton on the weekend with a customary header in the 13th minute of the 2-2 draw at Blackpool.
