Ex-Liverpool, Rangers defender Vignal joins Dundee United

Gregory Vignal has joined Scottish club Dundee United it has been confirmed.

The 31-year old French defender has signed a short-term contract with the Terrors, keeping him at Tannadice Park until January 5.

United boss Peter Houston, who has the option of extending the deal, is looking forward to having the former Liverpool, Lens, Rangers, Portsmouth and Birmingham City left-back strengthen his squad.

"I have been looking to add a left-sided defender to the squad," Houston said.

"Gregory has plenty of experience and it is important that we add experience to our young squad but first and foremost he is a very good player who will provide extra quality on the left-hand side of the park.

"The length of the contract is ideal for both parties. It will allow Gregory to get a feel for our club and gives us the opportunity to assess Gregory over a longer period."
