Reading manager Nigel Adkins says the club will not be signing free agent Mohamed Sissoko.
The 28-year old Mali midfielder is available for nothing after his release from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and it was believed he was set to sign for the Royals.
The former Liverpool man had reportedly held contract talks and had undergone a medical but negotiations are now off the table after the player and club failed to agree terms.
Adkins told the Reading Post: "That's not going to happen.
"If something materialises that we believe can benefit and enhance the group then we'll be very active.
"But at the moment we're working hard with the group we've got and our focus is on the next game, which is against Leeds United."
