Ex-Liverpool midfielder Redknapp: Does Di Maria want to be at Man Utd?

Jamie Redknapp has questioned Angel Di Maria's desire to be a Manchester United player. The Argentine winger hit the ground running when he joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid for £59.7million but his performances have dropped off since returning from injury which led to ex-Liverpool midfielder Redknapp's criticism.

Redknapp is of the belief that Di Maria is not producing what he should and that perhaps his role has been diminished by Louis van Gaal's current formation.

'When Angel di Maria arrived at Man United, we all thought: 'Wow, what an addition to the Premier League!' wrote Redknapp in his column for the Daily Mail.

'Now he looks like he's not interested.

'At the start of the season, Di Maria was gliding across the field, but at the moment he looks weak and sluggish. We all know what he is capable of and the United fans deserve better.

'It doesn't help when your manager over-complicates things, but Di Maria has been nowhere near good enough for a player who cost so much. His form has dipped dramatically, as our table shows, and if he doesn't improve there will be some serious stick coming his way.

'There is not a player in the world who doesn't go through a bad patch but we all want to see more from him. I certainly hope his dip doesn't suggest he will be angling for pastures new in the summer.'

The table Redknapp speaks of shows that Di Maria scored three goals and provided six assists in 12 outings between August 30 and December 31 last year but has failed to score and has come up with just two assists in six matches in 2015.
