Ex-Liverpool midfielder Redknapp: Bournemouth have ability to compete in Premier League

Jamie Redknapp is of the belief that AFC Bournemouth will be able to hold their own in England's top flight next season.

Eddie Howe's Cherries effectively booked their spot in the Premier League with Monday night's 3-0 win over Bolton at home and will make the step up next term barring a disastrous 19-goal loss at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

When assessing Bournemouth's hopes in the first division, former Liverpool midfielder Redknapp suggests that their performances in the Championship show they have the style to do well against the best teams in England.

'The whole team play with freedom and excitement. It's a joy to watch. I can't wait to see how they do in the Premier League,' he wrote for Sky Sports.

'It's a long way off but I reckon they'll stay up next season, too.

'What's important is they keep the nucleus of that squad together but they'll definitely invest, as well. They've got a good recruitment policy there and they'll go and handpick the best young players in the Championship and League One.'
