Former Liverpool and Aston Villa goalkeeper David James isn't ready to hang up the gloves just yet.

The Daily Mail says James, who will be 42 on August 1 and behind only Ryan Giggs in Premier League appearances, still has top-flight playing ambitions.

After two seasons with Bristol City, James wants to become the oldest player to appear in the Premier League — beating John Burridge, who kept goal for Manchester City aged 43 and 162 days.

So James is now looking to join a top-tier squad, saying: "I’m confident I can still compete for a place in the team."
