Former Liverpool defender Gary Gillespie says they must keep Dan Agger.

Agger is a major target for Manchester City and Barcelona.

Gillespie told talkSPORT: "If I'd have been (Brendan) Rodgers, he [Agger] would have been my first signing. Last season was probably his best at the club and I would have given him a new contract and paid him whatever he wanted.

"But I don't think there is any loyalty among modern day footballers. And who can blame the fella if he wants to go and play for Manchester City because they're challenging for the major trophies."
