Ex-Liverpool defender Carragher: Man City have to make changes at season's end

Jamie Carragher has condemned Manuel Pellegrini to the managerial scrapheap after Manchester City's loss to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Chilean once again went with a 4-4-2 line-up for the Anfield clash despite seeing a similar formation fail in the Champions League against Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Ex-Reds centre-half described Pellegrini's tactics as 'naïve' and suggested that perhaps there needs to be some alterations at the culmination of the current campaign.

"To employ that system (4-4-2) in the big games is so naïve," he said on Sky Sports.

"It's embarrassing really for a manager at that level to go into a game against Barcelona two years running and then again at Anfield like this.

"Something is not right about City and there has to be changes at the end of the season."

The loss saw the reigning Premiers remain in second place on the table, five points behind leaders Chelsea who now have a game in hand.
