A former Liverpool Council leader threatened to bring shame on Everton with an amazing outburst against Liverpool's new owners on Sunday.
The Daily Mail says Derek Hatton, the former Militant Tendency leader of Liverpool Council and passionate Everton supporter, gave John W Henry, Tom Werner and their associates his own foul-mouthed welcome to Merseyside after Tim Cahill had opened the scoring.
Goodison Park season ticket holder Hatton, who follows Everton home and away, rushed from his seat near the directors' box to launch a tirade of four-letter abuse at the Liverpool contingent sitting in the front row.
An eye witness said: 'He looked demented with his eyes bulging and frothing at the mouth."
The Americans did not want to make a fuss about the incident, especially as they had been treated so hospitably by Everton chairman Bill Kenwright, whose boardroom guests included showbiz celebrity Amanda Holden.
An Everton insider said: "Derek is known to get very loud and emotional when he's supporting his club, just like he was when he was leading the Council."
