Ex-Liverpool coach Clarke shock West Brom favourite

Former Liverpool coach Steve Clarke is a surprise late contender for the West Bromwich Albion job.

Clarke left Liverpool yesterday.

And The Sun says Clarke, 48, is set to step into England boss Roy Hodgson's shoes at the Hawthorns and is expected to signed a three-year deal worth £1million a season.

Former Schalke boss Ralf Rangnick had been tipped for the Baggies' top job after an approach for Norwich-bound Birmingham boss Chris Hughton was rebuffed, but it now looks set to fall to Clarke to build on last season's 10th-placed finish.
