Fernando Torres has guided Atletico Madrid to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey with a brace against Real Madrid on Thursday night.
The former Los Rojiblancos captain scored his first goals for his boyhood club since 2007 in the 2-2 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu which saw Atleti move through to the final eight of the Spanish Cup with a 4-2 aggregate win over their Madrid rivals.
Torres, who is on loan from AC Milan, netted in the 1st and 46th minutes to cancel out Sergio Ramos' 20th-minute goal and Cristiano Ronaldo's 54th-minute equaliser allowing Atletico to progress to the next phase.
Carlo Ancelotti's Real have now failed to beat Diego Simeone's side in their past five outings since Los Blancos took out the Champions League with a 4-1 win in May last year.
