Former Liverpool and Rangers boss Graeme Souness is wanted by Bolton Wanderers.

The Mirror says Bolton owner Eddie Davies is ready to pick from a managerial short-list of Dougie Freedman, Mick McCarthy and... Souness.

Souness is close friends with Trotters caretaker boss Sammy Lee - his former Liverpool team-mate and assistant.

Former Glasgow Rangers and Southampton manager Souness, who also had a spell in charge at Bolton's rivals Blackburn from 2000-2004, may be brought in on a short-term basis if Davies goes for a promotion-or-bust approach.
