Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is set to be employed as director of football at Aston Villa.
The Frenchman is in line for a Premier League return, six years after he managed in the English top flight.
Houllier has emerged as one of Villa's most wanted men to help whoever the club brings in to replace Martin O'Neill at the helm after club officials undertook a series of interviews with candidates this week.
Sven-Goran Eriksson, Alan Curbishley, David Moyes and current caretaker Kevin MacDonald are names being linked with the job and it seem as though they want Houllier to oversee things from afar as managing directly may impact his health.
