West Bromwich Albion analyst Dave McDonough is driving the club's Spanish search for a new manager.
McDonough worked at Liverpool under Rafa Benitez and suggested ex-Real Betis coach Pepe Mel as a potential candidate, says the Daily Mail.
He also singled out little-known former Osasuna boss Jose Luis Mendilibar as another to be added to the shortlist.
Club owner Jeremy Peace heads the selection committee with West Brom chief executive Mark Jenkins, technical and sporting director Richard Garlick, McDonough and head of medicine Mark Gillett making up the remainder.
