Ex-Leeds, Liverpool ace Kewell has Australia future - Osieck

Melbourne Victory star Harry Kewell still figures heavily in Australia boss Holger Osieck's plans.

The former Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray attacker's future for the Socceroos continues to be questioned but Osieck is adamant that he has plenty to offer.

"Harry is still a good player. He is still one of the top players in Australia, so that is a question at the wrong moment ... he definitely figures in my plans," he told the Sydney Morning Herald when asked about Kewell.

The 33-year old had to be subbed off in the second half of Friday's 1-0 loss to Oman in Muscat and has since returned to Melbourne to receive treatment as the Socceroos prepare for their next World Cup qualifier against Thailand on Tuesday.

"He's got a muscle strain, so in consultation with the medical group we decided to give him the opportunity to go home to get individual treatment, that's the background,'' Osieck added.

''I'm not a doctor, but according to our medical people it was serious enough to not make him available for this game."
