Ex-Leeds junior Woods among quintet released by Chelsea

Michael Woods is among five Chelsea youngsters released today.

The Blues signed Woods from Leeds United in 2006 and were accused of tapping-up the promising youngster, by Leeds chairman, and former Chelsea chairman, Ken Bates.

Chelsea ended up paying Leeds £5 million in compensation for the signing of Michael Woods and Tom Taiwo who also left Elland Road to join Chelsea.

Chelsea have also decided not retain Samuel Hutchinson, Carl Magnay, Danny Philliskirk or Jan Sebek.
