Former Leeds United boss Brian McDermott is set to join Arsenal's scouting staff.
The People says McDermott is understood to have signed a three-year deal with the Gunners.
He will play a senior role in the club's recruitment department and is set to work for chief scout Steve Rowley.
McDermott has been out of work since leaving Leeds United in May and had been tipped as a frontrunner to take over at Bolton Wanderers in the wake of Dougie Freeman's sacking.
However, any return to frontline management now appears to be dead in the water with the 53-year-old set to assume a role that was initially offered to Ian Bloomfield.
Former Portsmouth scout Bloomfield snubbed the Gunners to take over a position at Spurs, leaving a vacancy that McDermott has now filled.
