Italian import Marcello Fiorentini is finally set to make his first appearance for the Newcastle Jets tonight.

The 30-year old former Lazio midfielder joined the Jets in July but had been biding his time for the past three months and is now ready to show his wares when he comes off the bench against Gold Coast United at Skilled Park in tonight's A-League Week 7 midweek fixture.

"I want to show what I can do. Get the dust off my shoulders and play," Fiorentini told the Newcastle Herald.

"Sometimes you question what you are doing.

"You want to be in the squad, but I have to understand that I am new and need to learn everything from the language, to how they move, how they think.

"It is not easy. Now three-and-half months, my English is getting better so I can understand more.

"I am going to the gym twice a day and have put on two to three kilograms of muscle.

"I am working hard to play and be available for the coach."
