Ex-LA Galaxy striker Buddle anticipates Colorado Rapids fitness

Edson Buddle is likely to be fit for Colorado Rapids' MLS season opener next month.

The 31-year old striker joined the Rapids from LA Galaxy in the offseason and suggests his injured knee will be fine when his new club meets FC Dallas on March 2.

"Of course, we haven't talked about not missing the first game of the season," Buddle told MLSsoccer.com.

"There's nothing wrong with [the knee], I just think it needs to strengthen around it."

And Rapids head coach Oscar Pareja is also expecting Buddle to be ready for action once the 2013 campaign kicks off.

"He got his last injection and we're in the recovery process, but it looks very good," Pareja said. "We think he's a possibility for the opener. We need him for the whole season, not just one game."
