Former LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Simon Elliott is in search for a new club following the World Cup.
The New Zealand international was a key member of the All Whites team that drew all three of their group stage matches in South Africa but is on the lookout for a new home after being dumped by the Quakes six weeks ago.
"Yes, it's a bit of a strange position to be in. I was with San Jose but that all changed about six weeks before I was due to come out here to the World Cup," he told the Daily Star.
"They just called and said they were sorry but I was out.
"So I went down to LA Galaxy where I used to play and they were very accommodating. They let me train before flying to South Africa. Now I'm currently looking for employment.
"Hopefully this has been a chance during the World Cup to show what I can do. If people start asking who I am then we will take it from there."
