Jim Jefferies will be pursued by Dunfermline Athletic this weekend as they search for a new manager.
The Pars sacked Jim McIntyre on Friday as they strive to revive their season which has them sitting at the foot of the Scottish Premier League table.
The Dunfermline board are keen to appoint Jefferies as McIntyre's replacement until the summer but it is believed that the man in question is keen for a long-term contract with the club's director of football, Jim Leishman, suggesting assistant Gerry McCabe would take the reins until a replacement is found.
"I think the idea is to get someone in for this weekend because it's a huge game.
"If not, Gerry will do his job and get on with it and lift these guys for Saturday.""The board had a meeting yesterday to discuss the way forward," he said.
