Former Juventus striker Amauri says Gigi Buffon should be excused for his meltdown at Real Madrid a fortnight ago.

Buffon has stood by his attack on ref Michael Oliver after Juve's elimination.

Amauri told RMC: "It's hard to talk about it. The World Cup, Buffon has also come out of the Champions League and the bitterness was so strong, I think he has the right to express what he thinks.

"Gigi is one of them: when he speaks, he says what he thinks. Then everyone can judge his words as he wishes."
