Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has slammed Cesare Prandelli for turning to the Oriundi.

Cristian Ledesma, Amauri and Thiago Motta have all been used by Prandelli since he took charge of Italy.

"I am against the use of Oriundi in the Nazionale," Maldini told Radio Incontro.

"Do we not have players in Italy who are as good as Thiago Motta? I think so. I consider Oriundi to be a return to the past.

"In a list of 27-30 players, was a Brazilian the right man? I'd have preferred Palombo to Thiago Motta for a starting spot against Germany last night, but instead he was left on the bench."
