Wellington Phoenix have announced that Dani Sanchez has signed a new contract with the club.

The 27-year old Spanish midfielder has penned a one-year deal to remain with the A-League club after a fairly successful debut season following his move from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in July last year.

"We are delighted to have secured Dani's services for another year," Phoenix general manager David Dome said.

"He is a player who has shown he has the qualities needed for the A-League."

Head coach Ricki Herbert added: "Dani showed he had real quality last season and it was just unfortunate that, at times, circumstances forced us to play him in what was possibly not his best position.

"With the squad we are putting together I'm confident Dani will be able to play to his true potential.

"He is talented and has great vision."
