Ex-Inter, Roma, Genoa defender Ferrari: Corradi could be coming to Montreal Impact

Matteo Ferrari has indicated that he is close to joining MLS expansion franchise Montreal Impact whilst revealing that Bernardo Corradi could be on his way too.

The former Inter Milan, Parma, Roma and Genoa defender has been training with the Impact following his stint with Turkish club Besiktas and admits he is hoping to sign with the North American club.

"I wanted at all costs the MLS. I like the lifestyle, the outline, the enthusiasm that you breathe,” read a translated quote from Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“I know the mentality of this football because I have always followed, like the Premier League. We are now in retreat in Orlando , next week we get back home before the season.

“The proposals I've had many, even in Italy, but when I have terminated with Besiktas immediately thought of the American championship.”

And Ferrari suggests that 35-year old ex-Lazio, Valencia, Manchester City, Reggina and Udinese striker Corradi may also be in his way to Montreal although he is less sure of Juventus veteran Alssandro Del Piero.

“Corradi? We trained together at Monza, so I knew that he still wants to play in spite of those who said that he was no longer a kid. The leadership was looking for a striker, I did not think for a moment to make his name. Bernard has a great curriculum and a great desire to play. I look forward to and I hope it stays with us.

“Del Piero? I know that (Impact) President (Joey Saputo) loves Italian football, but not if it has already made an offer to Del Piero. That does not surprise me. You want to make it big, just think of the stadium they are building, ownership and enthusiasm of the fans.”
