Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has sympathy for Walter Mazzarri over his sacking.
Roberto Mancini has stepped in to succeed Mazzarri.
"I'm sorry for Mazzarri, who certainly gave his all to do well," Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.
"I am happy for Mancini and hope for the best. He is a great Coach, a hard worker and that is what is necessary right now."
Moratti was asked whether Mazzarri's dismissal had become inevitable.
"You'd have to ask Thohir how he reached this point, but that is a question for the club."
