Ex-Inter, Bayern, Spurs great Klinsmann: My USA job depends on Brazil 2014

Juergen Klinsmann admits his future as manager of the USA national team depends on how they perform at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Klinsmann's US side currently sits third of six on the CONCACAF table for the final round of World Cup qualifying after three matches but the German is already looking ahead to the tournament, suggesting he is confident of making it to Rio de Janeiro.

But after that provides a different story and Klinsmann is unsure of whether or not he will be in charge, stating it depends on how his side goes in the summer of 2014.

"It (my tenure) all depends on results," he told The Associated Press.

"I want to be measured by the outcome of your work, and the outcome of your work is Brazil 2014.

"It also depends on how the team presents itself, how they play, what really happens in the games."

US Soccer chief Sunil Gulati made it clear, however, that the current focus would be solely on making it to the WC finals before they worry about what lies ahead.

"We still have a long way to go with qualifying and hopefully then our participation in Brazil," Gulati said. "While results are critical for any national team coach and our focus is on Brazil, it's never too early to think about long-term personnel issues. Juergen and I are in the same place on this topic."
