Ex-Hibernian boss Calderwood becomes Birmingham no.2

Birmingham City have confirmed the appointment of Colin Calderwood as assistant manager.

The former Hibernian boss has joined Chris Hughton's coaching staff after the West Midlands club tracked him for a while when he was at the helm in Edinburgh.

Calderwood was relieved of his duties at Easter Road earlier this month and has now bunkered down at St Andrews as Hughton goes about pushing the team towards promotion back to the Premier League.

The pair worked together at Newcastle United, leading the Magpies from the Championship to the top flight in 2010.
