The former Fulham star joined the Sounders from Tottenham in August but has managed just five appearances for the Western Conference's second-placed side.
As the Sounders prepare for the weekend's trip to Colorado Rapids, Dempsey told reporters that he was eager to get back to playing regular minutes after his season was interrupted by niggling injuries.
"It's difficult. I've only played in five games, started three of those games. Three of those games were away, only two at home," he said.
"Yeah, I'd like to be playing in more games. You can't control the injuries that you get. But at the same time, I'd rather have an injury like I had this last time than something else that keeps me out longer.
"I'm just going to work in the gym and come back stronger and make sure that when I am coming back, I'm going to be 100 percent and hit the ground running."
As for returning to the fray in the Rapids clash, Dempsey added: "Let's see how it goes but, yeah, feeling good, feeling strong.
"Every day is a progression in training, and I'm just going to join in more and more each day. So yeah, I'm excited about getting back to fitness and hopefully playing soon."
