Eddie Johnson says he is happy to finally have sorted out the next stage of his soccer career.
The former Fulham striker was acquired by Seattle Sounders in a trade with Montreal Impact on Friday, just a day after agreeing terms with MLS, and he is looking forward to again playing in his homeland.
"A part of me wanted to come back to America. I watched the highlights all the time.
I was kinda of two minds.""I guess it was just a situation where I couldn't figure out where I wanted to be in my career," Johnson said of his time in Europe.
Johnson's time away included loan spells with Cardiff City, Aris Thessaloniki and Preston North End but it is his performances for FC Dallas and Sporting Kansas City in between 2001 and 2007 that has Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid most excited about a potentially promising strike partnership with Fredy Montero.
"My expectation is that Johnson and Montero can become a forward pairing that we will be able to put down on a weekly basis," Schmid said. "It is a pairing that is going to give us a lot of joy by scoring a lot of goals."
