USA international forward Clint Dempsey is having a medical at Fulham ahead of a return to the Premier League side from Seattle. The 30 year old left Craven Cottage to join Tottenham in 2012 and now plays for Seattle Sounders in Major League Soccer (MLS).
The move could go through when the transfer window opens on 1 January.
Cottagers boss Rene Meulensteen said: "Clint will be a boost for us."
