Simon Elliott has been appointed Technical Director and Head Scout for Chivas USA.

The 37-year old New Zealand international has returned to the Los Angeles club after spending last season playing in the midfield for the Goats.

Chivas general manager Jose Domene announced the appointment of the former LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew, Fulham and San Jose Earthquakes man.

"Simon brings [to Chivas USA] experience as an MLS player, he has always been a leader on and off the field," said Domene on Elliott's new role.

"His leadership skills and his knowledge of MLS will help us scout better talent and achieve more for the team."
