Ex-Fulham captain Murphy confirms Magath treated Hangeland with block of CHEESE!

Former Fulham captain Danny Murphy has confirmed reports that sacked manager Felix Magath once had Brede Hangeland treat an injury with a block of cheese!

Magath was sacked by Fulham last week.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2 extra Murphy revealed: "He told him (Brede Hangeland) to put a lump of cheese soaked in alcohol on his thigh and to leave it on overnight.

"The club doctor, who is no longer at the club, who I know well didn't think it was the best idea, but Brede did it regardless.

"It's one of many ridiculous sad stories that we've heard about Felix that has ultimately cost him his job and put Fulham in a world of trouble because all the good and experienced players they were here were desperate to leave because of it and did."

Hangeland is now playing for Neil Warnock at Crystal Palace.
