Former Everton scout Robbie Cooke is now with Burnley.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche strengthened the club's scouting system upon his arrival as boss two years ago and has brought in Cooke as UK and international scout this season, as he looks to extend their search for players to Europe.
"When I first got here our scouting system was low numbers and quite regional based," he told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"You weren't getting as much general coverage of the country so we immediately tried to affect that by getting more eyes on the road.
"Now we've got one key scout who's on the road a lot who goes to Europe, and our others fly out.
"Some of the big clubs have people who live in the countries more or less full time, we're not at that level yet because there has to be a cost base.
"Big clubs can take a gamble on a player. Three or four players at the top clubs come in with a big hoo-ha then drift away, we can't afford to do that."
