Sunderland have offered veteran defender Joleon Lescott a short-term contract.
The 34-year-old centre-half has been training with the Black Cats in recent weeks and is now set to play for the Wearside club for the remainder of the season.
Lescott had an unsuccessful stint in Greece with AEK Athens last year after leaving Aston Villa but is now back in the UK and ready to resume in the Premier League.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City and West Bromwich Albion man played under Sunderland boss David Moyes more than 140 times at Everton between 2006 and 2009.
