Former Liverpool and Everton goalkeeper Sander Westerveld is backing Davy Klaassen for a move to England.

The Ajax captain is the subject of a €22 million offer from Everton this week.

Westerveld told AD: "He has the right balance between physical strength and football intelligence.

"And, of course, English football perfectly fits in the profile of Klaassen. He has in recent years become the absolute leader of Ajax. Only now it is about whether he is going to make that extra step.

"But he has the mentality for it."
