Ex-Everton boss Kendall interested in Ireland job

Former Everton boss Howard Kendall has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant Republic of Ireland manager's job.

Kendall, who has been out of work since leaving Greek side Ethnikos Piraeus in 1999, says he is keen to get back into management and views the Republic of Ireland post as the ideal role.

"I would be very interested in it [the Republic of Ireland job]," Kendall told Sky Sports News.

"I have had long enough out of it and feel it would be perfect for me and hopefully good for them.

"I have made some enquiries as to whether or not they would be interested.

"I don't have to [sell myself], look at my CV and go through the history of what I have done."

Kendall also revealed he could form a management team with former Liverpool and Newcastle star Peter Beardsley after sounding out the ex-England international about the role.

"If they are interested I could bring with me the likes of Peter Beardsley," added Kendall.

"I spoke to Peter and he said he would like to work with me again."
