Former England stars aren't surprised Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has been axed from Fabio Capello's World Cup squad.

Alan Mullery blames Theo Walcott's failure to improve over the last year for his World Cup axe.

The former England defender said: "It doesn't surprise me but it might surprise a lot of people because they will say Walcott has got great pace."

World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst said: "Walcott's had injury problems and hasn't replicated his England form towards the end of the year."
