Ex-England boss McLaren jubilant after FC Twente take title

Former England national team manager Steve McLaren was jubilant after guiding FC Twente to the Dutch Eredivisie title on Sunday.

The ex-Middlesbrough boss saw his side defeat NAC Breda 2-0 on the weekend to clinch the title from a fast-finishing Ajax who are managed by former Tottenham boss Martin Jol.

McLaren was in a buoyant mood after the triumph but steered clear of talking about his future - he has been linked with the vacant role at German club Wolfsburg.

"Fantastic. We deserve it," said McLaren. "Ajax have been coming but we kept winning. It's unbelievable. We got better and better after finishing second last season. It is party time, so I don't want to go into my future. I want to enjoy the moment."
