Ex-Dutch star Mulder hails Defour Man Utd wonder goal: It was flying velvet

Former Anderlecht star Jan Mulder hailed Steven Defour's wonder goal for Burnley at Manchester United last night.

The Burnley midfielder hit a screamer at the Stretford End in the 2-2 draw.

Mulder wrote for HLN: "Boxing Day. The ball is at a distance of about 25 meters ready for a free kick. Gudmundsson and Defour have reported to take it. Defour is very close to the ball. I assume that he goes over it and leaves the responsibility to Gudmundsson.

"In the next tenth of a second, keeper De Gea was seen. Defour has shot. A world class goal. An Augenweide says the Germans. A beauty, a Christmas cracker, a jewel of a goal in the top corner. I try to find a fitting word for this magical moment at Old Trafford, Theatre of Dreams. Flying velvet.

"Steven Defour, meanwhile, does not change. He walks to the side and puts a bottle to his mouth..."
